Which country has the best train system for travel?
Okay, so best train system? Tricky. Japan, hands down, for speed and punctuality. I rode the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto (October 26th, 2022, cost a bomb, around ¥15,000 if I recall). It was amazing. Seriously smooth, quiet, and on time to the second.
Switzerland's a close second. Scenic routes are incredible. Remember that breathtaking trip through the Alps last summer? Absolutely stunning. Germany’s good too, efficient, but maybe lacks that 'wow' factor.
For overall reliability and sheer passenger volume though, it's Japan. My vote goes to them. The whole experience was just unbelievably polished.
