What do you wear to dinner on Viking cruises?
So, what do you wear to dinner on a Viking cruise? That's a question I actually pondered a lot before my trip, you know? I mean, "elegant casual," right? Sounds fancy, but how fancy? Like, am I going to be the only one in jeans? (Spoiler alert: I wasn't, thankfully!)
Ladies, picture this: you could totally rock a nice dress, maybe something flowy and summery, or perhaps a skirt and a cute blouse. I saw tons of women wearing things like that, even some really stylish slacks with a nice sweater. Comfy, but put-together – you know? It's not a black-tie affair!
For the guys, it's pretty relaxed. Think nice trousers, a collared shirt – no need for a tie, which was a relief, honestly. My husband, bless his heart, almost packed a tie, but I managed to talk him out of it. I swear he'd been picturing us being the only ones without ties, totally judging us! Jackets are optional too; some guys wore them, some didn't. It was really all about feeling comfortable and presentable.
Honestly, the whole thing was less stressful than I anticipated. I'd read somewhere – I can't even remember where now – that people tend to dress a bit nicer than they normally would, but not that much nicer. And that was totally true! People were stylish, but everyone seemed relaxed, no one was overdressed, and nobody seemed out of place in jeans (though I personally opted for a dress – and I felt great!). It's a cruise, not the Oscars, after all. You just want to feel good and not spend the whole time fussing over your outfit.
