What does "ha long bay" translate to?
What does Ha Long Bay mean? Whats the translation?
Okay, so Ha Long Bay, right? I was there last June, breathtaking. The name itself? It's Vietnamese – Vịnh Hạ Long.
It translates to "descending dragon." I read that somewhere, a guidebook maybe? Pretty cool, huh? Saw tons of limestone karsts, those jagged islands, looked like dragon scales poking from the water.
Cost me a pretty penny, that trip – around $800 including flights from Hanoi. Totally worth it, though. Seriously stunning. The boat ride was incredible.
It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site, obviously. You see it all over brochures, websites. The imagery? Unforgettable.
Ha Long Bay: Descending Dragon. That’s the official translation. Quảng Ninh Province, Vietnam.
