What is a cabstand?

So, what is a cabstand, anyway? I mean, you see these spots sometimes, right? Little marked-off areas, usually near a train station or a busy street corner. They’re not always super obvious, but you get the idea. A cabstand is basically where taxis – or cabs, if you’re old school like me – line up and wait for people to hail them. Like, imagine you’re rushing to catch a flight, completely stressed about being late, and BAM, there’s a whole row of cabs ready to go. It’s a lifesaver, honestly.

I remember once, in New York City of all places – the city that never sleeps, they say! – I was running late for a Broadway show. I swear, the whole city was against me that day. Traffic was insane. But, thankfully, I spotted a cabstand right near the theatre. It was like a little oasis of calm in the middle of total chaos. Got a cab practically instantly. Made the show, even grabbed a pre-show drink. So yeah, cabstands, they’re kind of a big deal, even if you don’t think about them much. They’re just… helpful, you know?
