Hue? Totally worth it. Seriously. I mean, the imperial city is insane. Those tombs though… wow. I spent ages at the Tu Duc tomb, so peaceful. Completely different vibe than the bustling markets.

Speaking of markets, I got the best banh mi there. Seriously. Best. Ever. Need to find that place again. Ugh, I'm already hungry.

The architecture is stunning. It’s so detailed. I took a million photos, and they still don’t do it justice. Think intricate carvings, bright colors, and the river running through it all. Magical. I even tried to sketch some, but failed miserably haha.

It's not just the palaces and tombs, either. The Perfume River cruises… beautiful. I'm thinking of going back already. Next time, I’ll rent a bike and explore the countryside. Heard the surrounding areas are gorgeous.

History buffs will lose their minds. Seriously, so much history packed into one place. I felt like I was stepping back in time. Plus, the local people are incredibly friendly. Such a warm welcome everywhere I went.

2024 trip notes: Spent about $50 a day, excluding flights, which were pricey this year. The best pho was at a tiny hole-in-the-wall place near the market, not a fancy restaurant! Wish I'd stayed longer. Five days wasn't nearly enough. Definitely go.

Then there's nem lui. Those lemongrass pork skewers. Grilled right there on the street. Delicious. I'm usually picky about street food, but these were amazing. The char, the herbs, the dipping sauce – perfect.

Com hen, clam rice. Found this little hole-in-the-wall place. Tiny restaurant, packed. The clams were so fresh, the rice perfectly cooked. Simple, but unbelievably flavorful. It was a hot day, and that dish felt incredibly comforting.

I also tried banh beo. Those little steamed rice cakes. Sweet and savory. They were good, not life-changing or anything but a nice light snack after all the rich stuff. I preferred the nem lui tbh.

Oh, and banh khoai, the crepe. I wasn't as impressed, honestly. It was okay, but nothing special. I wish I'd gotten more nem lui. I should have. I really should have.

I’m pretty sure I saw bun thit nuong on a menu somewhere. Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork. Didn't get to try it though. Too full from all the other food. Next time for sure. My stomach was bursting by the end of that trip. Hue's food scene is incredible. Seriously. Go. Now.
