Cancellation Policy for Confirmed Train Tickets

When a confirmed train ticket is cancelled, passengers are entitled to a partial refund of the fare. However, certain deductions apply to ensure adequate compensation for the railway authorities.

Standard Deductions

• Clerkage Fee: A flat fee of Rs. 60 per passenger is deducted for the administrative costs associated with ticket cancellation.
• Additional Deductions: Depending on the cancellation time and the class of travel, additional deductions may apply:
  • If cancelled more than 48 hours before departure: 15% of the fare
  • If cancelled within 48 to 24 hours before departure: 25% of the fare
  • If cancelled within 24 hours before departure: 50% of the fare
  • If cancelled within 12 hours before departure: 60% of the fare

Exceptions

In certain cases, exceptions to the standard deductions may apply:

• Medical Emergencies: Upon submission of valid medical documentation, passengers may be eligible for a full refund without any deductions.
• Unforeseen Circumstances: In cases of extreme weather events or other unforeseen circumstances, the railways may waive or reduce cancellation charges.

Refund Process

To initiate the refund process, passengers must submit the following documents to the railway reservation office:

• Cancelled ticket
• Passenger ID proof
• Bank account details

The refund amount will be credited to the specified bank account within a stipulated time frame.
