Best Canadian rail trip? Top scenic train journeys across Canada?

Okay, so best Canadian train trips, huh? Tough one. I'm kinda biased, having done the Toronto-Vancouver run on The Canadian in July 2021. Cost me a pretty penny, around $1500 I think, but worth it. The scenery was insane. Seriously, jaw-dropping.

Rocky Mountains? Forget about it. Absolutely stunning. Glaciers, lakes... you name it. That leg alone made the whole trip worthwhile.

Montreal to Halifax? Heard whispers, never done it myself. Ocean views probably amazing, though. Friends rave about the seafood.

Vancouver to the Rockies is a shorter route, but still a beauty. A shorter trip means lower cost, too.

To sum up: Toronto-Vancouver (Canadian) is epic. Montreal-Halifax (Ocean) sounds great. Check VIA Rail's site for specifics and prices – they change like the weather.

What is the most famous Canadian train?

Rocky Mountaineer, yeah, that's it. Most famous Canadian train. Obvi.

Runs BC to Alberta. Wait, Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise are key. Scenic route is... the point.

Daytime only, huh? Why? Sunsets in the Rockies would be amazeballs.

Vancouver or Whistler, huh. Makes sense. Wonder if they sell poutine on board? I could go for some poutine now.

  • Destinations: Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise
  • Provinces: British Columbia, Alberta
  • Daylight: only runs during the day

Speaking of trips, gotta book that trip to Tofino soon!

Is a train trip across Canada worth it?

Man, that train trip across Canada in 2023? Totally worth it. Seriously. I was on the Canadian route, Vancouver to Toronto. Took almost four days. Crazy long, but amazing.

The Rockies? Holy moly. Glaciers, snow-capped peaks, rivers snaking through valleys... Breathtaking. I spent hours just glued to the window. My phone's full of pictures, even though the wifi was spotty, naturally. The sheer scale of it all was just unbelievable. I felt so tiny.

Then, the prairies. Flat, endless fields. Sunsets were epic. Totally different vibe from the mountains, peaceful. More relaxing, if I'm honest. I actually read three whole books. The scenery changed gradually but constantly.

After that? Ontario, forests, lakes. Completely different again. The landscapes changed so much, it was mind-blowing. The changing scenery was a constant source of entertainment. I met some cool people too. One guy was a retired teacher, another, a young couple on their honeymoon.

The food on the train was decent, surprisingly. Better than airplane food. Way more room to stretch out too. I slept well most nights, unlike on planes. I got sick of the scenery? Nope, never. It was a huge journey but so much better than a plane. So much more relaxing.

Disadvantages? It's expensive. Really expensive. And it takes ages. But you know what? Worth every penny and every minute.

  • Pro: Unforgettable scenery.
  • Pro: Relaxed pace.
  • Pro: Met interesting people.
  • Pro: Comfortable accommodations.
  • Con: Pricey.
  • Con: Long travel time.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Seriously. Next time, I'm bringing more books.
