Hoi An is def the food capital of Vietnam. No doubt.
Okay, so, Hoi An. 2023. Late August. Sweltering hot. Like, really hot. I was dying.
-
Coffee: First, the coffee. Iced coffee. So strong it made my eyes twitch. I mean, woah. At Faifo Coffee, you know? The balcony. Best view in town.
-
Banh Mi: Anthony Bourdain. Yeah, him. Said the Banh Mi Phuong sandwich was amazing. He was right. Bread. So crunchy! Stuffing? Unbelievable. Legit.
-
White Rose Dumplings: These dumplings… White Rose. They’re kinda translucent? Steamed. Special sauce. You can only get them in Hoi An. Supposedly.
-
Cao Lau Noodles: Ok, Cao Lau. Hoi An specialty. Chewy noodles. Pork. Greens. That sauce! That brownish sauce, so addictive. Ugh, yum!
-
Mi Quang: Mi Quang’s a must-try. It’s noodles with yellow broth, usually chicken or pork. It’s really common, like, everywhere!
-
Com Ga: Com Ga, the chicken rice, is surprisingly good. Don’t expect too much, but its so delicious.
-
Banh Xeo: Okay, Banh Xeo is my all-time favorite. It’s a super crispy pancake filled with bean sprouts, shrimp, and pork.
-
Nuoc Mia: Nuoc Mia is a sugarcane juice is so refreshing. Usually from street vendors
-
Che: Che – Vietnamese dessert soup. SO much sugar! But great on a hot day and you can find it EVERYWHERE.
I also visited Morning Glory restaurant. So good, that one. Ate so much I almost exploded. Hoi An will always be my favourite city, because of the food.
Where is the best place to have clothes made in Vietnam?
Hoi An, huh? Yeah.
It’s always Hoi An. Isn’t it?
- Hoi An. The old town. The tailor shops.
The thing is…it feels… expected.
- It’s like everyone goes there. I want…different.
- Quality differs A LOT.
- But I get it. Lots of choices. Prices are…ok.
Do I really wanna follow the crowd this time? I don’t know. I need to find something that’s my own.
- There were these silk shops…I went to one in 2023 near the market. The fabric was beautiful. But touristy. So touristy.
- Maybe I should just buy the fabric myself somewhere else and then find a local tailor. Yeah, that’s it. Fabric first.
There’s gotta be somewhere, right? Besides Hoi An.
