Ugh, Hanoi in January? Freezing my butt off, that's what it was. Seriously cold.
I was there January 12th, 2022, remember it vividly, shivering like a chihuahua in a snowstorm. My breath was visible clouds! The air bit.
Average 15°C? Sure, maybe that’s the official number. But I felt a lot colder than that. Definitely below 10°C, I’d guess. My cheap thermal underwear couldn't save me!
The lowest I saw on a thermometer near my hostel was 2.7°C; I think it felt even colder with the windchill. Brrr. Need more than just my light jacket then. Definitely recommend bringing a warm coat, scarf and gloves if going in January.
