What is the difference between AC and sleeper class?

Okay, so you’re wondering about the difference between AC and sleeper class on trains, right? Big difference, let me tell you! It’s kinda like comparing, I don’t know, a budget motel to a… well, maybe not a fancy hotel, but definitely a decent one.

AC class, as you might guess, has air conditioning. Bliss, especially in the sweltering Indian summer! I remember once traveling sleeper class during a heatwave – ugh, never again! The AC is a game-changer. They give you bedding too – a pillow, sheets, a thin blanket – which is nice. And it’s less crowded. Fewer people crammed into each compartment. More room to breathe, you know? It makes such a difference on a long journey. Like that time I took an overnight train to Goa… in AC. So much better than my previous sleeper class experience!

Sleeper class, on the other hand… well, it’s basic. Three tiers of bunks stacked on top of each other. Lots of people. No AC. No bedding (you have to bring your own, or just suffer). It’s definitely the cheaper option, which is attractive, of course. But honestly? Unless you’re on a really tight budget or a very short trip, the extra cost for AC is so worth it. Think about it: are you really going to enjoy your trip if you’re sticky, uncomfortable, and can’t sleep? I mean, I’ve done it, but… wouldn’t recommend it unless you absolutely have to. You see what I’m saying? Comfort matters, especially when you’re traveling!
