What is the longest car ride in the world?
Okay, so you want to know about the longest car ride ever? Seriously, who even thinks about this kind of thing?! I know I do sometimes, though, when I'm stuck in traffic. Like, I'll be sitting there, inching forward, and suddenly I'm picturing myself on some epic road trip, you know?
Anyway, I read somewhere – I think it was a travel blog, maybe? – that the absolute longest possible road trip is something like 20,885 miles. That's...wow. That's like, driving around the entire planet, practically! Can you even imagine? I mean, I did that cross-country trip with my family once, when I was a kid, and that was already, like, a month of nothing but fast food and my sister complaining. This is three times longer, at least!
It supposedly starts in Indonesia – I'd love to see Bali first, though – and then winds its way through Malaysia, China, Kazakhstan... Whoa, Kazakhstan. That sounds intense! Then Russia, which I imagine is vast and freezing, and finally it ends up in Spain, crossing through Belarus and all of Europe. Talk about a journey! I'd need to plan that for at least a year! Maybe two. Probably need a really good co-pilot too. My poor little Corolla would never make it. I’m thinking more like a top of the line SUV, definitely.
Honestly, I don't know if I could ever do it. The sheer amount of planning, the cost... even just thinking about all the different border crossings gives me a headache! But man, the stories you'd have afterwards. That would be something else, wouldn't it?
