What is the longest drive in history?
Whats the longest golf drive ever recorded in history?
Okay, so you want my take on the longest golf drive ever? Well, things get kinda messy, tbh.
Officially, the Guinness World Records gives the nod to Mike Austin. 515 yards, wow! 1974 U.S. National Seniors Open, Las Vegas. The man was 64 years old. What a legend, yknow?
But here's where I get totally lost. Is that really the longest ever? I mean, surely someone, somewhere, has whacked one further in practice or some crazy uncontrolled situation.
Think about it, like, on a super windy day? Or down a freakin' ski slope covered in grass? I bet someone’s hit further. It's just not official, right?
I was messing around at my grandpa's farm one time (summer '08, near Lodi, CA), using old beat up clubs. The ball landed down a really steep hill, i kid u not, could've gone like half a mile, but I'm just spitballing. It was hilarious anyway. Cost me like $10 max for those clubs, total steal.
So yeah, "official longest" is Austin's 515. But I'm pretty sure there are some unrecorded monster drives lurking out there. I just know it.
What is the longest drive car ever?
Man, that's insane. 500,000 miles! Seriously? I read about that couple, Emil and Liliana Schmid. Their Land Cruiser, a 2013 model if I recall correctly, it’s a legend. They shipped it from Iceland, imagine that logistical nightmare. Then, New York, off they went. Crazy.
Eighteen-six countries! I'm struggling to name eighteen-six countries! My brain hurts. This was in 2023, I know this, because I saw it reported on a travel blog I follow. Absolutely bonkers. Think of all the paperwork alone.
The sheer grit, you know? I mean, that's commitment. Not just the miles but… the cultures, the languages, the constant repairs, the sheer wear and tear on that poor truck. Probably replaced the tires a zillion times. I'd be completely stressed!
Think about it – driving across deserts, navigating insane city traffic in places like Mumbai or Cairo. The sheer logistics, spare parts, visas, health issues. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
That Land Cruiser is a champ. A real testament to Toyota's engineering. I bet it's seen things. Things I can only dream of. I need a vacation.
- Longest Drive: 500,000 miles.

What is the longest driven car ever?
Irv Gordon... wow. His Volvo P1800S. The longest driven car.
3,250,257 miles. Hard to even imagine that many miles, huh? Like, where all those miles took him, you know? I bet he had some stories.
Driving that much. I wonder if he ever got bored. Maybe that was his life. I feel a bit lost when I think about my old Corolla.
- It barely made it to 200,000.
- I sold it in 2021, needed repairs, too expensive.
- I kinda miss that car, honestly.
His Volvo, it must have become a part of him. I think, no, I know he loved that car, really. Not just a thing, you get it?
I guess some people just have a calling. Driving was probably his. It’s crazy, I wish I had a purpose.
What is the longest car ride possible?
Longest Drive: 28,629 km. Khasan to Simons Town. Brutal.
- 18 countries. Continuous road. No ferries.
- 392 hours. Sixteen days. Pure driving. Exhausting.
- My friend, Mark, attempted a similar journey in 2023. He failed in Kazakhstan. Mechanical issues. Stupid.
Route highlights (personal observations, subject to change):
- Siberian wasteland. Mind-numbing.
- Central Asian chaos. Border crossings. Nightmare.
- African heat. Sunstroke a real threat. Always carry water.
- South African scenery. Rewarded in the end, somewhat.
Note: This route is challenging. Requires extensive preparation. I would not recommend. My brother tried it and lost his passport. Idiot.
