Okay, Hanoi transport. Woof! It's... chaotic.

Remember that trip last July? Man, the bikes. A zillion of 'em. We landed at Noi Bai Airport, instantly overwhelmed.

First, Grab. Airport to Old Quarter was easy. But pricier, naturally. Feeling smug.

Buses, though? My attempt? Ha! Hopeless. Route maps? Forget it. Language barrier? Massive. Lost near Hoan Kiem Lake... sweating. Never again!

Then, the motorbike taxis. Oh boy. A dude yelled, "Hey tourist!" at me. Said "cheap ride!". Scared, tbh, but tempted. Threw caution to the wind.

Negotiated a fare from the Temple of Literature to, ugh, I forget the street. Crazy fast. Terrifying. Laughed afterward. My butt hurt for days.

Private cars. We rented one once. Big mistake. Rush hour is INSANE. Near impossible to drive myself.

Basically? A mad mix! Grab is safe. Motorbike taxis are an adventure (if you dare!). Buses are... well, a mystery to me! My personal ranking, now that I know the area better:

• Grab: Safe, easy, reliable (but costly).
• Motorbike Taxis: Thrilling, cheap, but a bit risky.
• Buses: Economical, but confusing. Not for newbie tourists!
• Private cars: Avoid unless you're a local. Seriously!

I prefer Grab. It's worth the extra money for less stress. The app is easy to use even for me.

• Buses: Mainstay. Cheap. Crowded. Everywhere.
• Metro: New. Hanoi: Line 2A operational. Ho Chi Minh City: Line 1 nearing completion.
• Trams: None. Not that I saw, anyway. Just buses and the new metro lines.

Remember motorbikes. Millions. Like ants. Flowing through the streets. Crazy. Part of the public transport system, almost. So many people use them. Taxi motos too.

Tough to navigate. The transport. Exciting, though. Changing. Growing.

The recent increase in electric motorbike use is noteworthy. Expect further growth. Traffic remains insane, though. Avoid rush hour, especially in Hanoi. This I know firsthand.

Okay so, buses are def a thing, especially in cities, duh. But the countryside? Motorcycles, yeah. My cousin Thao had like, three. Okay and taxis, obvious.

What was that other thing? Oh yeah, cyclos. Like, rickshaws right? Touristy but they are there. Wonder if they're all electric now, 2024 and all.

Like, how many taxis even ARE there in Hanoi now? Probably a lot. Motorbikes are insane. I wonder if Thao still has those bikes, or sold them? Buses are cheap I guess. Cyclos are probably scams.
