Ha Long Bay... limestone islands. Right? Thousands of them, jutting out. Like, seriously, a lot.

• Emerald water.

• Fishing boats everywhere.

• I went there with my family last August. It was SO hot!

Is it considered an archipelago, though? I saw the Cat Ba bit… It's connected somehow.

• Kayaking was scary because the waves were high.

• The caves are cool, but crowded.

Picturesque is right. Seriously gorgeous. My photos don't even do it justice. Should I go back this winter? Nah, too cold, I would rather go to Da Nang.

Nature sculpted it, like they say. But erosion must be brutal. Will it last?

• Lots of monkeys on some islands.

• Got stung by a jellyfish. Ouch.

Okay, so Ha Long Bay, right? It's insane. I went in 2023, June, I think. The heat was brutal, seriously brutal. The humidity, ugh. Thousands of these limestone islands, jutting straight up out of the emerald water. It's a jungle on top of most of them. Legit jungle. Thick, green, and wild-looking.

Remember that tiny boat? Man, the boat ride was something else. We went into one of the caves, this huge cavern, echoing like crazy. Bats everywhere, freaked me out a little. Hang Dau Go, they called it. Massive thing. It's the biggest one. Seriously, a cathedral of stone and shadows.

Some islands were totally hollow. Like, you could sail right through them! It was unreal. We kayaked around a few smaller ones, crystal-clear water, saw fish. Beautiful, but those mosquitos though? Nasty things. I'm still itching thinking about it. Wish I'd packed more DEET. The whole bay is just… overwhelming.

The scale of it is mind-blowing. 1,600 islands, maybe more. I can't even imagine how many caves there are inside them. It felt ancient, like a prehistoric place.

I'll never forget that sunset. Seriously amazing. The sky was, like, this crazy mix of orange, pink and purple. Reflected on the water. Pure magic. Best sunset of my life, no joke. Ha Long Bay is a must-see, even with the bugs.

Ha Long Bay? Picture this: limestone goth architecture meets the sea. Thousands of islands, think "bread crumbs" tossed by a giant, rise from the emerald waters.

Some are pimples, some are mountains. Nature, the ultimate sculptor, had a field day here.

It's a seascape so stunning, it makes postcards weep with envy. Ha Long Bay, a place where even rocks have a better view than I do from my apartment, really. I swear, it's like J.R.R. Tolkien designed a tropical getaway, or he didn’t.

Forget the gym! Climbing all these "island mountains" is the new workout. Plus, zero chance of running into that treadmill hog, Brian, from my building. Thank goodness.

• Seascape: It is a bay!
• Diversity: Sizes and shapes, like a rock family. I have one, a pet rock.
• Unspoiled Nature: Hopefully, it stays that way. Fewer tour boats = happier bay!
• UNESCO Site: Fancy pants, but also important.

Karst Formation Fun Facts: Limestone dissolves! Slowly, like my will to live watching reality TV. Rainwater, slightly acidic, gnaws away at the rock over millions of years. Boom! Islands! The same happens to caves. It’s called erosion, a process, and a really cool show if you’re patient.

Seriously, I bet you did not know rocks could be so interesting. Maybe I should dump Brian, and date a geologist! Or not.

Ha Long Bay, eh? It's like Mother Nature threw a rock party, and giant limestone hunks just showed up, man. About 1,600 of 'em, all wearing green toupees of jungle.

Think Jurassic Park, but wetter. They're all jostling for space in the ocean, like folks at a Walmart on Black Friday.

Some of these islands? Hollow, I tell ya. Caves big enough to park a small city bus. And Hang Dau Go, the Wooden Stakes cave? The Beyonce of caves, ya know? It's huge!

My uncle, Earl, once told me he thought the islands were dragon teeth. Earl also thought he could fly. So, take that with a grain of salt. I gotta go; my cat's eating my houseplant again, oh boy!
