Ugh, Shinjuku Station. 2023, summer. Man, the sheer human density was insane. Felt like ants, millions of them. I swear I almost got swept away in the crowd. The air hung thick and hot, a mix of sweat and exhaust fumes. My phone almost died trying to navigate that maze.

It was chaotic. Beautiful, terrifying chaos. The sheer scale of it, the constant flow, the organized madness… it was overwhelming. I almost missed my train multiple times. Seriously. People everywhere, rushing, pushing, barely acknowledging each other.

Shinjuku Station, hands down, the busiest. I’ve traveled, okay? I’ve seen some busy places. Nothing even comes close. I was there for a conference. My hotel was nearby, thankfully, or I’d have lost my mind. The sheer number of platforms. It’s a freaking labyrinth.

I’m pretty sure I saw more people in one hour there than I see in a week back home in Birmingham, Alabama. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration but seriously… the sheer volume of people is UNBELIEVABLE. That station is something else.

Okay, so Shinjuku Station, right? Sheesh. It’s not just famous, it’s infamous! I swear, getting lost there is practically a rite of passage for any Tokyo tourist.

I remember trying to meet my friend Hana there, like, last summer, August 2023. Thought it’d be easy. Ha!

• World’s Busiest: They call it that, and believe me, it earns it. It’s just wall-to-wall people, all the time. No exaggeration. I almost missed my friend!

• Tons of lines: JR, Odakyu, Keio, subway… my head was spinning.

• Shopping heaven (or hell): Isetan, Takashimaya – right there. So many stores. I ended up buying a Kit Kat I didn’t need because I was stressed!

It felt like a labyrinth, with secret passageways. Signs everywhere, but somehow, I still took the wrong exit. I think I went in circles for a good 20 minutes. Ugh! Hana was NOT amused.

I’m pretty sure it’s located in the western part of Shinjuku, which explains the massive skyscrapers around it.
