Prohibited items in Japan?

Japan's customs rules are serious. No drugs like heroin or weed. No guns or bullets either. Forget bringing explosives.

I remember that time in Narita (March '22). Saw a guy get pulled aside. Probably had something illegal. Made me nervous about my own bag. It was just souvenirs, thankfully.

Explosives are a definite no-go. Think dynamite, gunpowder – stuff like that. Don't even think about it. Customs checks are tight.

Once, in Osaka (October '21), I saw a sniffer dog. Those dogs are intense. They're trained to find anything prohibited. Makes you double-check your luggage.

No illegal drugs allowed. Things like cocaine, MDMA. They're really strict about it. Big fines and even jail time. Not worth the risk.

Firearms and ammunition are also prohibited. Don't even try bringing pistol parts. They'll confiscate it, for sure. Better safe than sorry.
