What type of transportation causes the least pollution?
Whats the Cleanest Mode of Transportation?
Okay, so, the cleanest way to get around? That's kinda loaded, right?
I'd say, objectively, a bicycle. It's pretty straightforward: it doesn't release pollutants when you ride it. No exhaust fumes choking the air.
Cars, buses - they all spew out smoke and nasties. Even with catalytic converters, it's not perfect.
One time, me and my friend Sarah were biking along the coast of Santa Cruz (August 2018, I think?). The air was so crisp. Then this old pick-up truck lumbered past, black smoke belching out. It just killed the vibe, y'know? The price to breathe clean air.
But even bikes are not perfect. Making the tires? Shipping the parts? All that has an environmental cost, for sure. I remember seeing some documentary about rubber production that totally freaked me out.
Still, from pure pollution standpoint, a good ol' bicycle seems like the best bet. My lungs thank me, even if my butt sometimes does'nt. :)
