What will happen to my ticket if I miss my flight?

Missed Your Flight? Here's What Happens to Your Ticket

Missing a scheduled flight can be a frustrating experience, leaving you stranded and uncertain about your travel plans. Understanding the consequences of missing a flight is crucial to minimize any potential inconvenience or financial loss.

Consequences of Missing a Flight

1. Cancellation Fee:

• Most airlines do not charge a cancellation fee if you miss your flight. However, the terms and conditions of your ticket may vary, so it is always advisable to check with the airline.

2. Rebooking:

• If you missed your flight and wish to rebook onto the next available flight, you may incur a rebooking fee. The amount of this fee varies depending on the airline, flight availability, and your ticket class.

3. Forfeiture of Fare:

• If you missed your flight due to your own fault or negligence (e.g., arriving late at the airport), your fare may be forfeited. This means you will not be entitled to any refund or compensation.

4. Purchase of a New Ticket:

• If your fare is forfeited, you will likely need to purchase a new ticket to continue your travel. The cost of this ticket will depend on the availability and pricing of flights at the time of purchase.

Recommendations

To avoid the consequences of missing a flight, it is recommended to:

• Arrive at the airport well in advance of your scheduled departure time.
• Check-in online or through the airline app to save time at the airport.
• Keep your ticket and boarding pass readily available.
• Be aware of any potential delays or cancellations and plan accordingly.
• If you do miss your flight, contact the airline as soon as possible to inquire about rebooking options and any potential fees.

By understanding the consequences of missing a flight and taking the necessary precautions, you can minimize the impact on your travel plans and avoid any unnecessary expenses.
