What's cheaper, Vietnam or Laos?
Laos is generally cheaper than Vietnam for budget travelers. Accommodation and local transport costs less, especially outside major Lao cities. While Vietnam has budget-friendly options, Laos' lower cost of living often makes it more affordable overall. Prices vary depending on your travel style and specific destinations in each country.
Vietnam vs Laos: Which is cheaper?
Okay, so Laos versus Vietnam? Cheaper? Ugh, tricky. I found Laos way cheaper, especially last September in Luang Prabang. A guesthouse? Five bucks a night! Crazy.
Vietnam, yeah, Hanoi, I paid double that easily. Food though? Close call. Street food in both was ridiculously affordable.
Transportation? Buses in Laos were cheaper, definitely. Scooters? Both were about the same, I think. But the overall vibe? Laos felt budget-friendly.
Except maybe the beer. Lao beer seemed pricier than Vietnamese beer. Go figure. But overall? I’d pick Laos for the budget trip, hands down.
