Best places to retire in Vietnam? Top expat retirement destinations?

Okay, so you wanna know the BEST places to retire in Vietnam, huh? Lemme tell ya, it's a tricky question.

Da Nang and Nha Trang keep poppin' up. Nha Trang, I gotta say, feels kinda...overdone? Like, a lotta expats already call it home.

But Da Nang? Hmm. Seems promising. More on that later.

Truthfully, I haven't officially retired anywhere, yet. Still hustlin'! But I have spent a good chunk of time in Vietnam, backpackin' mostly.

I spent a week in Da Nang, November 2018. Remember thinking, "Wow, this place is cleaner and more chill than I expected." I even tried the "banh mi" there. Delicious. Maybe around 20,000 VND?

Da Nang and Nha Trang are popular expat retirement destinations in Vietnam. Da Nang is generally considered suitable, while Nha Trang attracts a larger number of retired expats.

Okay, Da Nang. The beaches are long, white sandy and beautiful. Rent? I imagine you could find somethin' decent. Cost of living is pretty low, compared to, say, California, where I'm from originally.

Nha Trang. Look it up. Seems pretty. I remember seeing pics.

Ultimately, the "best" place? Depends on what you're lookin' for, right? I'd say research both Da Nang and Nha Trang, maybe even visit and see which one clicks for ya. Good luck. You'll need it. Heh.

Where do most retirees live in Vietnam?

Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Many retirees. Urban amenities. Family proximity. Simple.

Coastal areas. Pleasant climates. Data lacking. Irrelevant detail. Who cares?

Healthcare access. Crucial factor. 2024 trend. Expect this. Always.

  • Hanoi's old quarter charm. Overrated.
  • Ho Chi Minh City's bustling life. Exhausting. My uncle lives there.
  • Da Nang's beaches. Beautiful. Too hot. Personally dislike.

Smaller cities? Uncertain. Data deficient. Focus on the big two. Don't waste time. This is a fact.
