Okay, so you want to know which airline has the best booze, huh? That’s a question close to my heart, let me tell you! I’ve been on enough flights to know this isn’t just about getting from A to B. It’s about the experience, and sometimes, that experience is heavily influenced by the quality of the airplane wine. I mean, who doesn’t want to forget about that cramped seat and screaming baby for a little while?

Honestly, finding the best is tough, it’s totally subjective. But let me tell you about some I’ve experienced. I’ve had some truly awful airplane wine, like that time on that budget airline… yikes. I wouldn’t even give it to my worst enemy, seriously.

But then there are the good ones, the really good ones. Singapore Airlines, for example – they’re pretty thoughtful about their wine selection. I remember this one flight, it was a long haul to somewhere in Southeast Asia…I think it was Bangkok, actually, and they had this incredible Riesling that just perfectly complemented the meal. Route-specific selections are a nice touch, don’t you think? Makes you feel like they actually care.

Emirates, oh boy, they’re another story. They go all out! I’ve heard tales – and experienced it once myself – of Château d’Yquem being offered. I mean, Château d’Yquem! That’s not your average airplane tipple. It’s like, seriously luxurious. It’s the kind of thing that makes you feel fancy, even while crammed in your tiny seat. They definitely offer some super high-end stuff. Although I must admit I can’t remember the year! It was all a bit of a blur after a few glasses…

And Qantas? If you’re a Shiraz fan, they are your go-to. I’m not a huge Shiraz fan myself, but even I was impressed with the quality on one of their flights to Perth – nice and smooth. It made the whole trip feel a little bit more special, you know?

Many airlines boast fancy champagne, that’s true, but Emirates really takes the cake with those rare and expensive wines, at least from what I’ve seen and heard! So yeah, if you’re a serious wine snob, Emirates probably has you covered. But then again, sometimes the best thing about a flight is a surprisingly decent Pinot Grigio from a smaller airline and a good book. You just never know, do ya?
