Starling Bank generally doesn't charge fees for using your debit card abroad for purchases or ATM withdrawals. This can make it a great option for travelers compared to some banks that impose foreign transaction fees.

Free International Bank Fees: Which Banks Are Best?
Okay, so free international bank fees? A total headache, honestly. Starling? Yeah, they're great for that. No fees on purchases or cash withdrawals abroad. Used it myself in Italy last July. Ate amazing pasta, zero bank charges. Bliss.
Monzo, on the other hand... Ugh. They sting you, unfortunately. Remember that trip to Spain, 2022? Hidden fees galore. Ruined the tapas budget a bit.
So yeah, Starling wins for me. Mobile app only, though. Not a fan of that personally, but the fee-free aspect is worth it. Definitely recommend it for travelers. Simple.
