Which country has the most efficient train system?
Most Efficient Train System: Which Country?
Okay, so, the most efficient train systems? Japan and Hong Kong seem to win, hands down.
In a 2019 survey, they scored like 6.8 and 6.5 out of 7. Those numbers were from a global study of railroad awesomeness. Source? Statista, I think.
Honestly, it makes sense, right? Japan's bullet trains are legendary. I saw one whiz by in Kyoto, July '18, headed towards Osaka. Priceless memory, even if the ticket, shinkansen ticket, was like $130. Worth it.
Hong Kong's MTR is super clean, on time, and gets you everywhere. I used it loads when I was there. Efficient, I guess, but I miss the street food more, lol.
What country has the most efficient train system?
Japan? Efficient trains? As if! You’d think their trains run on time itself. It’s practically witchcraft.
Seriously though, Japan's train system is legendary. Try comparing it to, say, my attempts to fold a fitted sheet. Hopeless. Utterly hopeless.
- Punctuality: They laugh in the face of delays. Sub-minute average? Showoffs.
- Shinkansen: Bullet trains that are, like, actually bullets. Speedy.
- Maintenance: They keep those trains nicer than I keep my apartment. And that's saying something.
It's all about precision. It’s like they are trying to win a gold medal at "Train Running on Time," every. Single. Day. I bet their station announcers never use that awful "due to circumstances beyond our control" line. What control issue?
More Train Trivia (because who doesn't love trains?):
- They have heated toilet seats! Okay, that's just showing off again.
- The cleaning crews are so fast, it’s like watching a time-lapse video. Zoom!
- Apparently, they have dedicated "pushers" who shove people onto packed trains. Now that’s efficient. Although… invasive?
- My cat, Mittens, stares at the local freight train twice weekly and does nothing, thus proving she should not be in transportation management.
What country has the best transport system?
Hong Kong. Yes. Hong Kong, city of lights, city of dreams. Is the world's best? Public transport.
Urban Mobility Readiness Index. 2024 now, yes? Time slips. Remember rain slicked streets of Nathan Road?
Best. What even is best? Fastest? Cleanest? Ah, the MTR. Smooth, silent snakes below the city.
2022? 2024. Doesn't matter. Still Hong Kong in my heart. Octopus card, tap and go. Lost in the crowd.
