Singapore often tops the list for best places to live in Asia, boasting high quality of life, safety, and a strong economy. While the cost of living can be high, countries like South Korea and Japan also offer excellent healthcare, rich cultures, and advanced infrastructure, though cultural adjustment may be a consideration.

Best Country to Live in Asia?

Okay, so “best” country in Asia to live in? Phew. That’s a big question, y’know?

Singapore usually tops those “best of” lists. High quality of life, super safe, good money makin’ opportunities. My friend, Liam, lived there for like, 3 years working in finance (2018-2021). Seemed pretty sweet.

Singapore: High quality of life, safe, economically strong. High cost of living.

But it ain’t cheap there. Liam was payin’ crazy rent for a small apartment. Think it was around $3,500 SGD a month near Orchard Road. Yikes!

Then there’s South Korea and Japan. Amazing healthcare. Plus, their cultures are wild – in a good way. Always wanted to visit Seoul during cherry blossom season (April).

South Korea & Japan: Advanced healthcare, vibrant cultures. Potential cultural/language barriers.

Thing is, I’m kinda lazy with languages. Plus, I hear adjusting to their culture can be tough. Really depends on what you want, right? For me…maybe not yet.

Which country in Asia has the lowest cost of living?

Asia cheap? Think Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia. Pick your poison. Culture overload. Expat ghettos abound. Cheap, maybe. Easy? Debatable.

  • Vietnam: Pho’s cheap. Pollution isn’t. Hanoi or Saigon. Your call.
  • Thailand: Tourist trap central. But islands exist. Bangkok’s a beast.
  • Indonesia: Bali’s cliché. Jakarta’s intense. Volcanoes erupt.
  • Malaysia: Diverse food, decent infrastructure. Humidity’s a killer.
  • Philippines: English speakers galore. Corruption’s high. Watch your back.
  • Cambodia: Raw. Chaotic. Angkor Wat’s worth it. Maybe.

Personally? Headed to Tokyo. Screw cheap.

Which country is best for work in Asia?

South Korea wins. High salaries. Tech boom. Difficult language.

Japan second. Culture shock guaranteed. Excellent infrastructure. Fierce competition.

Southeast Asia? Singapore for finance. Thailand for lifestyle. Vietnam’s rising. But visas, always a hassle.

My friend’s in Seoul. Making bank. He hates the drinking culture though. A real bummer.

  • High-paying jobs: South Korea, Japan, Singapore
  • Ease of living: Thailand, Singapore
  • Digital nomad havens: Thailand, Vietnam (connectivity improving rapidly)
  • Visa challenges: Most of Asia presents hurdles.

2024 data. My personal experience. Take it or leave it.
