Which country is the cleanest place on earth?
Cleanest country in the world? Discover the top eco-friendly nations!
Okay, so, the cleanest country in the world? Like, the cleanest? Hmmm.
Estonia's apparently winning that title!
I always kinda pictured Scandinavia as super clean, tho. You know, all those forests and fresh air. EPI 2024 says Luxembourg is close, with a 75 score due to good sanitation, sustainability, and waste management.
I visited Stockholm back in July 2018—super pricey, like €8 for a coffee, but yeah, clean. Didn't see a single overflowing bin.
Apparently, Germany's up there too? I guess I can see that. They're pretty serious about recycling.
Finland, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, and Austria also make the top 10 cleanest countries. I guess Europe's got it figured out?
My own personal cleanest country award? Maybe Switzerland, just 'cause I imagine it pristine, even if I haven't been...YET.
Which country has very cleanliness?
Estonia?! Cleanest country? Ha! I don't think so.
I'd nominate Japan based on my own eyeballs.
It was May 2023, Kyoto. Okay? Kyoto.
Mind. Blown.
Seriously, I mean, the streets were immaculate, it wasn’t just tourist spots.
Remember that vending machine craze? Every block had one, with a trash can right next to it. AND PEOPLE USED IT! Like, what?!?
No overflowing bins, no random junk... nothing.
The public restrooms? Cleaner than MY bathroom, honestly, lol.
And I have a thing about bathrooms.
Even the train stations were spotless.
That's the Shinkansen.
Like, they wipe it down, obsessively clean it.
Plus, it was just a feeling.
A sense of order, respect.
Okay, here's what I noticed specifically:
- Zero graffiti. Anywhere. Not even in back alleys!
- Organized recycling: Clear instructions, people followed them!
- No public littering: I literally saw someone pick up a tiny scrap of paper. A complete stranger.
- Silent cleaners: Working efficiently but silently early in the mornings.
- Polite people: They take pride in their surroundings, I think.
- Even the air felt cleaner: No random smells, which is a big deal in a city.
- The vending machines are everywhere.
- Even the temples, and those gardens are impeccably maintained.
So yeah, Estonia might have some environmental index saying one thing, but my gut? Japan.
It's a visceral thing, you know?
Which country has very cleanliness?
Estonia. World's cleanest. '24 EPI.
- Estonia: Cleanliness king.
- Honduras, Moldova, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand, UK: Sustainable contenders. Not as pristine. Factors blur the line.
Sustainability diverges from pure cleanliness. Different metrics. Hard truths.
- EPI: Index to watch.
- Sustainability rankings: Complex equation.
Cleanliness is not sustainability. Sustainability? A long game. I saw trash behind that cafe in Tallinn, though.
