What is the most beautiful metro system in the world?

Okay, so you want my take on the most beautiful metro system ever? Honestly, it’s gotta be Moscow’s.

Those downtown Moscow metro stops? Seriously, they’re insane!

I’ve seen pics, right? Chandeliers and super complex scaffolding. Like, way beyond just getting from A to B. It’s art!

They really went all out. Like, who puts that much effort into a subway? Amazing. I’m not sure if anyone can say the same for other metros. I haven’t visited them all, though, and I’m not an expert, of course. I don’t know for sure which system is the best.

What is the best metro in the world?

Seoul’s metro. Efficiency is key. Cleanliness observed. Safety assumed.

Price? Acceptable. Coverage is… extensive. Experts declare it best. So?

Best is subjective. My preference? Berlin U-Bahn. The graffiti tells stories. History is etched onto the wagons.

  • Seoul Metro: Known For
    • Technology: Advanced systems. Digital displays everywhere.
    • Cleanliness: Obsessive cleaning schedules. No tolerance for grime.
    • Connectivity: Links to every corner of the city. Beyond, even.
    • Transfer Efficiency: Seamless interchanges. Minimize wasted time.
  • Berlin U-Bahn: Its Appeal
    • Atmosphere: Gritty realism. No pretense of perfection.
    • History: A witness to decades. Cold War echoes linger.
    • Accessibility: Wide network. Reaches hidden pockets.
    • Uniqueness: Graffiti, not corporate blandness. Individual expression.
    • Functionality: Still gets you there. Despite, or perhaps because of, everything.

Perhaps “best” misses the point. What is best anyway? Just a label. My old jeans are “best.” Comfortable. Familiar. A perfect metro…boring.

What is the most beautiful MRT station in the world?

Formosa Boulevard Station in Taiwan? Yeah, that’s the one.

It’s a metro station. In Kaohsiung. Taiwan, obviously. Opened in 2008, Sept 9th. I was, like, 10? Wow. That’s old.

Heart of the city. Super busy. Probably packed during rush hour. Ugh, public transport.

It’s pretty. Mario Botta designed it. An Italian architect. Glass dome. Letting in light. Natural light is the best.

  • Glass dome
  • Natural light
  • Columns look like trees

Trees? Cool. Hung Tung-lu did a mural. A Taiwanese artist, nice. Murals are cool.

Called beautiful. CNN said so. In 2012. Top 10 most beautiful. Seriously? I wonder what #1 is?

CNN said it was in top 10, so it must be awesome.

Kaohsiung is in Taiwan. Taiwan is a country in East Asia. MRT stands for Mass Rapid Transit. Sept 9th is my grandma’s birthday!

Okay, so the glass dome is called the “Dome of Light”. It’s made of thousands of pieces of colored glass. Really intricate. Took like, four years to install. Four years! Dedication. Represents a kind of history of humanity.

Mario Botta also designed the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Huh. That’s random.

The mural’s called “Fire Phoenix”. And it’s massive. Covers a huge wall inside the station. Bright colors. Very eye-catching, I bet.

There are other stations in the world that are pretty. Like the Komsomolskaya station in Moscow. Or the T-Centralen station in Stockholm. Maybe I should make a list?

What city has the nicest subway?

Seoul’s subway? A marvel. Think less “rat-infested tube” and more “futuristic spaceship.” Seriously, the cleanliness is unnerving; it’s like they vacuum the tracks daily. Efficient? My grandma navigates it better than I navigate my dating life.

  • Spotless: I’ve seen cleaner operating rooms, maybe.
  • Efficient: Faster than a caffeinated squirrel.
  • Safe: Safer than my meticulously crafted spreadsheet of all my passwords. (Which, btw, I will NOT share).
  • Price: Affordable. Even I can manage that.

Honestly, it’s a joy to ride. Unlike some other cities’ systems (cough cough, New York), which feel like navigating a post-apocalyptic labyrinth… You know, the ones with the questionable smells and mysterious puddles? Seoul’s a breath of fresh air. Or maybe subway air, which, in this case, is pretty much the same.

Compared to London’s Underground (aka the Tube), which boasts a charming, century-old design but also feels like it was designed by a badger with a penchant for dimly lit tunnels, Seoul’s is like a sleek, modern sports car.

Additional Notes: The KTX high-speed rail system integrates seamlessly with the subway, making travel within South Korea a breeze. This is a serious plus, unlike the disjointed mess some other places call “public transportation”. In 2023, the Seoul Metro even expanded its lines… making it even better, if that’s even possible.

What is the most beautiful metro in Europe?

Lisbon’s. Yes, Lisbon’s metro is, I think, beautiful.

Those tiles, those colors… they always hit me.

  • Lisbon: The stations, azulejo tiles, each tells a story, doesn’t it? A story I don’t fully understand, maybe. It’s old.
  • Budapest: So ornate. I appreciate Budapest, the history shouts at you. Maybe too grand, though. The yellow line… it’s not subtle.
  • Kharkiv: I… haven’t been. But the photos. They haunt. That Soviet-era coldness, it’s… striking.

It’s just… the light in Lisbon. The way it hits those tiles. Reminds me, oddly, of my grandmother’s kitchen. Strange thing to connect. The light, the blue. She used to make the best arroz doce. Not that it matters, really.

Which country has the most beautiful subway?

Stockholm’s T-Centralen? Oh, you mean that place? It’s basically the Sistine Chapel…underground. Seriously, my Aunt Mildred’s basement has less art, and she hoards Beanie Babies.

More than 150 artists went wild down there. Imagine that: a bunch of artists, paint buckets, and a really, really big hole. It’s like a rave, but with mosaics instead of glow sticks.

T-Centralen turned the whole darn Stockholm metro into, get this, a giant art gallery. Who needs museums when you’ve got the daily commute? Seriously, beats staring at ads.

Tourists flock there. Why? To ride the subway? Nope, they’re there to see art, on a subway. It’s like going to the Louvre to…ride the escalator! Mind. Blown.

  • Bonus Fact 1: Those artists? Probably paid in meatballs. It’s Sweden, duh!
  • Bonus Fact 2: I once saw a squirrel down there. Pretty sure it was judging the art, too.
  • Bonus Fact 3: You can actually take art tours down there. Seriously. Art. Tours. Underground. Whaaaaat?

What is the most beautiful subway in the world?

Beauty is subjective. Some say Moscow Metro reigns supreme. Others tout Naples.

  • Stockholm: Art underground.
  • Lisbon: Tiled visions.
  • London: History etched deep.
  • St. Petersburg: Imperial echoes.
  • Paris (Abbesses): Quintessential.
  • Berlin: Stark beauty.

My own subway? The NYC Subway. Raw, real, the pulse of the city. Born and raised blocks away from the 14th street station that always gets me where I need to be.

What is the most beautiful subway station in the world?

Most beautiful? Beauty in a subway? Hmm, that’s like saying which cockroach is wearing the fanciest hat.

  • Stockholm, Sweden: Okay, fine, the Swedes went full Viking funeral pyre on their metro. It’s less a subway and more an art gallery… underground. Showoffs.
  • St. Petersburg, Russia: Opulence! You expect Faberge eggs dispensing tea. But is it beautiful, or just ridiculously over the top? I ask myself this every time I visit my aunt Svetlana.
  • Dubai, UAE: Bling! Of course Dubai has a fancy subway. Makes sense, after all. I mean, who needs art when you can have gold leaf? Or, you know, another skyscraper shaped like something weird?
  • Seoul, South Korea: Sleek. Modern. Probably plays K-pop directly into your skull. Efficient. I’d expect nothing less. It better not be playing that song I hate… you know the one.
  • Taipei, Taiwan: Hey, Taiwan! The trains there? Impeccable. Did you know my cousin lived there for a year? Anyway, these folks seem to know a thing or two about transportation, I guess.

But wait, there’s more!

My cat, Mr. Fluffernutter, actually thinks our local bus stop is the pinnacle of architectural design. He loves licking the pole. So you know, take all this with a grain of salt… or maybe a kitty treat. Each to their own, I suppose.
