More local? Vietnam. Hands down. You breathe it there. The air itself tastes different. You are in it.

Which is better Phuket or Hanoi?

Hanoi, I visited last year, October. Totally different vibe. Bustling, chaotic, amazing street food. I loved getting lost in the Old Quarter. The energy was insane. So much history there too. Seriously, the temples and pagodas, whoa! But the beaches? Forget it.

Phuket wins on beaches, hands down. Stunning. But Hanoi? Hanoi is way more culturally enriching. It’s a deeper experience. More real, somehow. Phuket felt… manufactured. Hanoi felt alive.

• Phuket: Amazing beaches, tons of resorts, great for relaxation and water sports. Crowded though, very touristy. Expensive too.
• Hanoi: Incredible history, vibrant culture, bustling city life. Awesome food. Less emphasis on beaches, more on exploring. Cheaper than Phuket.

Bottom line: It depends what you want. Relaxation and beaches? Phuket. Culture, history, and a real city experience? Hanoi, all the way. For me, Hanoi was better, much more memorable.

Is Vietnam or Thailand more expensive?

Also, don't sleep on Hanoi's Beer Street. Okay, maybe sleep a little after, because... yeah. It's beer. Lots.

I saw this dude, maybe Swedish? Wearing, I swear, a full Viking helmet. Drinking beer. It was a Tuesday. Only in Hanoi, right?

Thailand's cool, Chiang Mai is decent, sure. Pattaya? Ugh, no. But those are tourist traps.

I felt like I was actually experiencing something on Bui Vien. Raw energy, that's it. So yeah, Vietnam, hands down, for truly wild nightlife.
