Which taxi works in Vietnam?
Reliable taxi services in Vietnam include Mai Linh Taxi, known for its green cars; Vinasun Taxi, a widely available and reputable company; Taxi Group, popular in Hanoi; and Hanoi Taxi, another dependable option in the capital city.
What taxi companies operate in Vietnam?
Mai Linh, Vinasun, Taxi Group, and Hanoi Taxi are common in Vietnam.
Personally, I’ve mostly used Mai Linh and Vinasun. I took a Mai Linh from Hanoi airport to my hotel in the Old Quarter on 15th July. Think it was about 300,000 VND. Vinasun I’ve used more around Ho Chi Minh City, last time being in District 1 on 2nd August.
I remember one time, probably around April last year, I tried flagging down a Hanoi Taxi near Hoan Kiem Lake but they were already full. Ended up walking, it was a nice day anyway. Never actually been in a Hanoi Taxi myself.
Taxi Group, I’m not so familiar with. Seen them around though. A friend used them once from Da Nang airport I think. Said it was okay.
These are just my experiences though. Others might have different opinions. There are tons of other smaller local taxi companies too, depending on where you are.
Does Grab Taxi work in Vietnam?
Dark. Phone screen glowing. Vietnam… yeah, Grab works there. Used it a lot in Hanoi. 2023… summer. Hot. Sticky. Remember the motorbike rides. Whizzing through traffic. Crazy. HCMC too. Saigon. Different vibe. Still Grab everywhere. Even Da Nang. Beach town. Used Grab to get to Hoi An. Remember that… lanterns. So many. Beautiful. Grab… it’s always there. 24/7 they say. Always available. Like a… lifeline. Sometimes… just needed to get away.
- Major Cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Da Nang, Da Lat, Nha Trang
- 24/7 Availability: Most urban areas
- Transportation Types: Cars, motorbikes (xe ôm), even delivery
- Payment: Cash or in-app (linked card)
My go-to was motorbike. Cheap. Fast. Exciting. Cars… for when it rained. Or when I felt… fragile. Sometimes you just… need that enclosed space. Remember one driver… Hanoi. Kind eyes. Shared some… street food spot. Best pho I ever had. Gone now, probably. Things change. Places disappear. But Grab… Grab’s still there. Always there. Waiting.
Does Grab Taxi work in Vietnam?
Grab in Vietnam? Ubiquitous. Cities? All major ones. Ho Chi Minh City. Ha Noi. Da Nang. Even Da Lat. Nha Trang too.
24/7? Mostly, yes. Availability shifts. Demand drives it. Know your zone.
- Coverage: Expansive, but verify.
- Hours: Round-the-clock mostly.
- Service: Varies. Expect surges.
- Vehicles: Car, bike. Choose wisely.
Availability in 2024: Contingent, Always. My cousin couldn’t get one in Hanoi late one night; that was a joke.
Grab—complicated, not reliable. I’ll be seeing you later.
