Why is my Australian eVisitor visa taking so long?
Ugh, why is my Australian eVisitor visa taking so long? I'm starting to get really stressed out. I applied weeks ago! I mean, I double-checked everything a million times – passport details, flight information, the whole shebang. Did I miss something obvious? Maybe I should have used a different font? (Okay, that's probably not it.)
Apparently, there are a bunch of reasons why these things can get held up. I read somewhere – and I'm paraphrasing here, because I didn't exactly print out the whole government website – that past visa issues are a big one. Like, if you've been denied a visa before, they're going to look at your application with a super fine-tooth comb. Makes sense, I guess. Nobody wants to let in someone who's, you know, not supposed to be let in.
And then there's the criminal record thing. I, thankfully, don't have one, so I can rule that out. Phew! That was a worry for a minute there. They also mentioned health stuff, which is kinda weird. It said that although it's not a standard part of the process, if they think there's something to check out medically, that can also add time to the process. I remember reading about someone whose application was delayed because they had a serious medical condition. It was such a stressful ordeal. It really brought home just how unpredictable this whole visa business can be. I'm trying to stay positive, but man, I'm getting antsy! My flights are booked! My Airbnb is paid for! I just really, really hope it comes through soon.
