Why is my US visa application taking so long?

Ugh, this visa thing is driving me crazy! Why is it taking so long? I applied ages ago, and honestly, the waiting is the worst part. I mean, they say processing times vary, which, yeah, I get. But seriously?

They list all these reasons, like needing “additional administrative processing.” What does that even mean? Bureaucracy, right? Sounds like they’re shuffling papers around somewhere, maybe lost my application in a pile of a million others, who knows! Or maybe, and this is the one that keeps me up at night, they need “more information.” More information?! I swear I filled out every single form, even the ones that seemed completely redundant! I remember spending hours on that darn DS-160, I felt like I was writing my life story. Seriously, what else could they possibly want?

And then there’s the “security checks.” Okay, I understand that’s important. Safety first, absolutely. But it feels a little like being put under a microscope, you know? Like, are they really digging that deep into my Facebook posts from five years ago? (Seriously, I was obsessed with those cat videos back then!) My friend Sarah, she applied for a visa last year, and hers took forever too – something about a “minor discrepancy” in her employment history, which turned out to be a typo. A TYPO! It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out, isn’t it?

I’m trying to stay positive but… this waiting game is brutal. I just really, really hope it’s not too much longer! Anyone else have similar experiences? Let me know, it might make me feel slightly less alone in this agonizing limbo!
