Does pho broth have to be clear?
Okay, so does pho broth have to be clear? I mean, seriously? I think that's a bit of a highfalutin standard! Sure, a perfectly clear broth sounds amazing, almost like some culinary masterpiece, right? But honestly, a little cloudiness doesn't bother me one bit. I actually think it probably means there's extra flavor just swimming around in there, you know? All those lovely proteins and fats doing their thing. For me, I care way more about the taste and the aroma than whether it looks like I can read a book through it. If it tastes good, and smells amazing, I'm a happy camper, cloudiness be darned! I remember one time, I went to this tiny, hole-in-the-wall pho place in my neighborhood. The broth wasn't exactly crystal clear, more of a milky tan, but oh my goodness, the depth of flavor! It was seriously the best pho I've ever had. So yeah, clear broth? Nice, but not a dealbreaker for me. Flavor is king!
