What is the abbreviation COD known as?

So, what does that even mean? Well, imagine all the gross pollutants in a body of water, like a river or a lake. This test, COD, tells us how much oxygen those pollutants could potentially gobble up. It’s measured in milligrams per liter (mg/L). Think of it this way: a high COD means tons of pollution – nasty stuff that sucks the life out of the water. Like, literally. The fish, the plants, everything… they need oxygen to breathe, right? So a high COD is basically suffocating them. Remember that time we went kayaking on the [Name of River/Lake]? The water was kind of murky, and there weren’t many fish. I bet the COD was pretty high there. It’s kind of like how we need oxygen to breathe, except it’s the water’s oxygen being used up. Not good.
