What do you need a portfolio for?
Okay, so, what do you even need a portfolio for, right?
Well, let me tell you, for me, a portfolio is seriously my career lifeline! It's not just some... like, fancy slideshow of projects. It's proof. Proof that I can actually do what I'm rambling on about in interviews. Y'know?
And honestly, looking at those completed projects, remembering the late nights, the crazy bugs I had to squash, the little victories... it gives me such a rush! A real sense of accomplishment, you know? Like, "Yeah, I did that!"
I remember this one project, building a website for my friend's little bakery. The database was a NIGHTMARE. I almost gave up like five times! But seeing her face light up when it was finally done... man, that was the best feeling. That's what my portfolio reminds me of.
It's obviously a powerful tool for landing a dream job, which is great. But it's also a super personal thing. It’s a record of my growth, a visual reminder of how far I've come. Like, remember when I couldn’t even center a div? Haha! See, progress!
So yeah, invaluable is probably an understatement. Seriously. I wouldn’t be where I am without it. Would you? It's something to think about, anyway.
