What is the most pointless war in history?

Several wars are considered "pointless" due to trivial causes or negligible impact. Examples include: The Bucket War: (1325) Centered on a stolen bucket. Anglo-Zanzibar War: (1896) Shortest recorded war, lasting only 38 minutes. The Emu War: (1932) Australian military vs. emus. The Pastry War: (1838) Triggered by damage to a French pastry shop in Mexico. Huéscar War: (1948) A symbolic declaration of war between two Spanish towns, lasting until 1988.

Whats Historys Most Pointless War?

Okay, lemme tell you, pinpointing the most pointless war ever? That's kinda subjective, right? But some wars just scream "waste of time, resources, and, sadly, lives."

10 Most Pointless Wars:

  • The Bucket War: (1325) A Bologna-Modena squabble over… a bucket. Seriously?
  • Anglo-Zanzibar War: (27 August 1896) Shortest war ever. Lasted like, 38 minutes.
  • The Emu War: (1932) Australia vs. emus. The emus won. LOL.
  • The Kettle War: (1784) Dutch vs. Holy Roman Empire. One kettle sunk.
  • The Huéscar War: (1948) Two Spanish towns declared war, forgot about it.
  • Molossia vs East Germany: (1977) Micronation vs. a country that didn't exist anymore.
  • The Lobster War: (1961-1963) Brazil and France fought over lobster fishing rights.
  • The Pastry War: (1838) France invaded Mexico over unpaid pastry debts. Like, I recall reading about the Pastry War. Some French baker got his shop trashed in Mexico, and France was like, "Pay up." So silly.

Anyway, I'd personally nominate the Emu War. I mean, seriously, a war against birds? I remember thinking when I first heard about it, "how are the birds winning here". It happend in Australia Nov-Dec 1932, and the goberment lost!

That one, to me, is top-tier ridiculous. You can't even believe.

What is the most forgotten war in history?

Forgotten? The Korean War.

  • Often called the "Forgotten War" for a reason.
  • Sandwiched between WWII and Vietnam.

Why forgotten?

  • Media spotlight elsewhere.
  • Outcome: A stalemate. Unsatisfying.
  • My grandfather fought there. Never spoke of it, never.

Consequences linger.

  • Divided peninsula. Tensions remain high.
  • Impact on US foreign policy, undeniable.
  • Ask anyone under 30. They won't know. Sad.

Additional info:

  • Korean War (1950-1953): A conflict between North Korea (supported by China and the Soviet Union) and South Korea (supported by the United Nations, primarily the United States).
  • Stalemate: The war ended in an armistice, not a peace treaty, leaving Korea divided at the 38th parallel.
  • Legacy: The war solidified the Cold War divide, impacted US military spending, and led to a long-term US military presence in South Korea. My view? It's a powder keg.

What is the most forgotten war in history?

Okay, so, the most forgotten war? Definitely the Korean War.

My grandpa, he fought in that thing. Used to tell me stories, you know? We'd sit on his porch in Tallahassee, Florida, sweat dripping everywhere, summer nights, mosquitoes buzzing, 2024. He’d talk about the cold. Not Florida cold, like real bone-chilling, I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening cold. Said it was worse than any winter in Michigan, where he grew up. He never really said much about the fighting, just the cold and the waiting. And the food...ugh, he hated the food.

He always seemed…sad. Like a part of him was still stuck there. He had nightmares, too. Mom said he’d wake up screaming sometimes. It was awful. The war's impact was… real.

Plus, it seems like nobody ever talks about it anymore. Like it just...vanished. It’s always World War II this, Vietnam that, but the Korean War? Poof. Gone. So frustrating!

  • It started in 1950 and ended in 1953. Three whole years!
  • Millions died. Not just soldiers, civilians too. Horrible.
  • It was a proxy war between the US and the Soviet Union. Politics, bleh.
  • It technically never ended. There's just an armistice.
  • Grandpa got a medal. Didn't talk about it much. Hidden in his drawer.
  • He did have a story of finding a stray dog though. The dog kept his spirit.
  • That was his happy memory, maybe.
  • My grandpa passed away in 2018. I miss him. His stories, I miss them.
