How stressful is being a taxi driver?
Is being a taxi driver stressful? Are you kidding me?! It's gotta be insanely stressful! Just imagine it – stuck in traffic for hours on end, your back aching, dealing with grumpy (or worse!) passengers...ugh. I’d lose my mind! I remember once, just once, I got stuck in a traffic jam for like, two hours, and I was ready to pull my hair out. And that was just me going to the mall! Can you imagine doing that every. single. day? Trying to make enough money to pay your bills, with gas prices what they are these days? It’s no wonder you hear stories about taxi drivers snapping. I mean, how could you not feel the pressure?
Sure, some people are probably better suited to it than others. Maybe they find ways to zone out or something. My uncle drove a cab for a while, actually. He said he used to listen to audiobooks to pass the time. But even he eventually quit. Said it was just too much. Too much wear and tear on the car, too much wear and tear on him. It's not just the long hours, it's the unpredictability of it all, right? You never know what’s going to happen next, who you're going to pick up... No, thank you. I have so much respect for taxi drivers. It's just not a job I could ever do. No way.
