How do you stop your car if you have no brakes?

Okay, so, no brakes?! Heart attack city, right? Just thinking about it makes my palms sweat. I mean, what do you do? I've always figured I'd try to downshift, like, really fast, hoping the engine braking would do something. Wouldn't that help? And the emergency brake, of course! But like, gently, right? You don’t want to lock up the wheels and spin out. I remember seeing this video once – a mechanic was explaining exactly what to do if your brakes fail. Where was that video?! If that ever happened to me, finding that video in my brain would be priority number one, right after, you know, trying not to die. I guess also trying to get off the road ASAP, somewhere safe. Like, not into a tree. Or a ditch. Or another car! Yikes. Just thinking about this gives me the chills. Remember that time Sarah’s brakes went out on that hill? That was insane. Thank goodness she was okay. It’s one of those things you never think will happen to you… until, maybe, it does. Shudder.
