How early should you be for an interview?
Aim to arrive 10-15 minutes early for an interview. This gives you time to check in and prepare. Arriving excessively early (over 20 minutes) can inconvenience the interviewer.
Okay, so, how early should you show up for an interview? It’s a tricky one, isn’t it? You don’t want to be late, obviously. But, like, showing up TOO early is almost as bad, am I right? I remember this one time, I was interviewing for this… I think it was a marketing job? Anyway, I got there, like, half an hour early. So awkward! I just sat in the lobby, sweating, feeling all weird and overeager. The receptionist kept giving me these looks. It was the worst.
So, yeah, ten to fifteen minutes early is the sweet spot. Just enough time to, you know, catch your breath, find the bathroom, maybe glance over your notes one last time. It shows you’re punctual and prepared, but not…desperate. That’s the key, right? You want to seem keen, but not too keen. More than twenty minutes early, though? Seriously, don’t do it. The interviewer might still be prepping, or, worse, dealing with some other fire drill. You’ll just be adding to their stress. Plus, where are you going to go? You’re just awkwardly loitering. Not a good look. Trust me. Ten to fifteen minutes. Golden.
