Is a 10 minute interview good?

Ten minutes? Is that enough time for an interview? Honestly, it feels a little rushed, you know? Like, trying to cram a whole personality into a tiny box. I remember once, I went for an interview – for a dog walker, of all things – and it was only about five minutes. Felt totally absurd! They barely asked me anything about my experience, just if I liked dogs (duh!). Got the job, though, so maybe it can work.

But the thing is, a ten-minute interview can be enough. I mean, if the interviewer's really good, they can zero in on what matters. Like, they're not going to waste time on pointless small talk, right? They'll be focused – laser-focused – on your skills and whether you're a good fit. It's like those super-efficient surgeons you hear about – they get the job done quickly and precisely.

It's not about the length, though, is it? It's about the quality. A short, sharp, focused interview can be far more effective than a rambling hour-long session. Think about it – would you rather have someone who's genuinely interested and gets to the point, or someone who drones on and on, wasting your time? Exactly. So, yeah, ten minutes could be plenty, but I wouldn't want it to be the norm. Maybe something closer to half an hour is better, personally. Gives you a little more breathing room, you know?
