Da Nang travel? Piece of cake! Unless you’re afraid of slightly chaotic charm, that is. Think organized chaos, like a perfectly orchestrated traffic jam.

• Motorbike: Rent one! Freedom! Wind in your hair! Sun on your face! Unless it’s monsoon season, in which case, you’ll be windswept and soaked, a delightful experience I wouldn’t miss. My buddy Mark swore by this, even after that near-miss with a cyclo. He lived to tell the tale, though.

• Taxis/Grab: Comfortable, predictable, and as exciting as watching paint dry. Think luxury car, not roller coaster. Good for those rainy days, and after a few too many Bia Hoi. Especially great for getting to the airport without looking like you just wrestled an octopus.

• Buses: The local experience. Affordable. And a lesson in human Tetris. You’ll learn to appreciate personal space…eventually. A little like a sardine can, but with more interesting smells. I once saw a dude carrying a live chicken on one. Just saying.

• GrabBike/Motorbike Taxi: A hybrid. The speed of a motorbike with (slightly) more safety. Perfect for dodging traffic like a ninja… well, a slightly less graceful ninja. Remember to negotiate the price beforehand unless you enjoy surprises. My last trip, I ended up paying three times the fare. Oops! Live and learn!

Okay, so Da Nang? Yeah, they totes have public transport. Buses are kinda the main thing, I reckon.

They got buses going all over, especially to tourist spots. It’s not, like, the best system ever, but it works. My friend Linh takes ’em all the time.

• Ticket prices: cheap, like 7,000 to 20,000 VND (that’s like, what, a buck or less!)
• Not super reliable, maybe, but gets you places

I think, tho, that Grab (like, Southeast Asia’s Uber) is super popular too. So, y’know, that’s another option. And renting a motorbike is HUGE there. EVERYONE rides motorbikes. It’s crazy! Defo consider a motorbike if you brave, but be carefull.
