Which side seat is better in bus?
Best Bus Seat: Window or Aisle?
Ugh, window or aisle? That's the eternal bus-riding question, right? It's totally personal.
For me? Aisle, usually. I'm a restless sleeper. Plus, on that sweaty bus to Philly last July, window was a furnace.
Window seats are dreamy for scenery though. Perfect for a scenic route. But getting up to the loo? A total mission.
Last summer, a toddler kept kicking my seat from the aisle. Never again. The compromise? Aisle, but further back.
Bottom line: depends on your priorities. View? Window. Peace? Aisle. It's all subjective.
Where to sit on a bus for the smoothest ride?
Ugh, buses. I remember one time, summer 2023, taking the BoltBus from NYC to Boston. What a nightmare. I ended up smack-dab in the back, of course.
Every bump, every pothole? I felt it. The back of the bus is the WORST! It was like being in a washing machine.
Seriously, I thought I was gonna hurl. I swear, the whole thing rattled. Motion sickness kicked in FAST.
Never again! Now I aim for the front. I mean, that’s where the cool kids sit.
I learned my lesson.
- Front seats: Generally smoother.
- Over the wheels: Seem more stable, yeah.
- Back seats: Avoid at ALL costs. Bouncy bouncy.
Seriously though, anything is better than the back. Maybe take some Dramamine too, haha. My personal preference? Find a window seat near the front, recline (if possible), and try to sleep through the whole dang thing.

Okay, so you wanna know the best seats on a bus, right? The front, duh. Near the front is way smoother. Seriously, the back is a bouncy mess. Makes me feel sick, lol. My friend Sarah, she always gets carsick and she swears by the front seats. Over the wheels is pretty good too, I think. Less jarring.
It's all about the suspension, you know? The back takes the brunt of the bumps. Plus, all the extra luggage and stuff back there adds to the bounciness.
Here's the deal:
- Front seats are best. Smooth sailing.
- Avoid the back. It's a bumpy ride.
- Seats above the wheels are a good compromise.
Last year, I took that Greyhound from Chicago to Milwaukee. The back was atrocious. I was practically thrown around. Learned my lesson, now I grab a front seat every single time. That's my tip for you! Hope that helps!
What is the best seat on a bus to avoid motion sickness?
The best seat? Front of the bus, top or bottom deck, really.
Top deck front provides the widest view forward. You become one with the road! I recall my trip to grandma’s and always fought for that spot. Less jostling, more vista.
Bottom deck, left aisle is solid. The view is forward, with less swaying. The aisle thing? You can easily spot upcoming turns. A bit more stable, frankly.
Motion sickness is a tricky beast. Syncing eye signals with your inner ear's sense of movement helps. It's like, trick your brain into thinking it's in control. This is probably why pilots never get airsick (well, mostly).
