Why is MRT not 24 hours?
Ugh, why isn't the MRT running 24/7? Seriously, it's the most frustrating thing! I mean, I get it, in theory, they need to do maintenance. Like, imagine if your car just ran constantly without ever being serviced – it would fall apart, right? But still… it's SO inconvenient. Remember that time I had to work that crazy late shift and then missed the last train? I almost cried, I swear. Had to shell out a fortune on a taxi, which, let's be real, totally defeats the purpose of having a supposedly affordable and efficient public transport system.
The Department of Transportation – I think that's the DOTr, right? – they say running the whole thing 24/7 isn't realistic. They probably have some big, complicated reasons involving millions of pesos and engineering mumbo jumbo. But honestly, it just feels like a cop-out sometimes. I've read some articles about other cities with 24-hour subway systems, and they seem to manage, somehow. Maybe it's just a matter of prioritizing things differently? I dunno. Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, dreaming of a magical, always-available MRT. But man, wouldn’t that be nice?
