Alright, so, Grab? It’s kinda like Vietnam’s everywhere ride-hailing buddy. They’re all over, not just Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It’s a nationwide party bus, more or less!

Think, if you throw a dart at a map of Vietnam, chances are Grab probably delivers pho there. Seriously. They ain’t shy.

They’ve got the whole shebang going on:

• Motorbikes: Because dodging traffic is a national sport, duh.
• Cars: For when you want to pretend you’re fancy, or it’s raining cats and dogs, or both.
• Food delivery: ‘Cause, let’s face it, nobody wants to cook after a hard day of haggling over the price of dragon fruit. I know I dont.
• Even courier services! So, you can send that durian to your frenemy across town with ease.

Basically, if you’re breathing in Vietnam, Grab’s probably got you covered. From Ha Giang to Ca Mau. They’re like, the Amazon of Southeast Asia. It is what it is.

And lemme tell you, my auntie in Can Tho uses Grab all the time. Says it’s the only way to get around now. So, yeah. There you go.

Think of it: Grab car prices in Phu Quoc is like a fixed-price buffet for your transportation woes, no screaming for a better deal.

• No scam taxis! Yay.
• Fair, fixed prices: Like finally finding matching socks.
• Available since 2021: So not a new thing.
• Maybe use a bike or rent a scooter for total control! (I did!)
• Why not try a ferry?

You know, before Grab, negotiating a taxi fare was like trying to explain quantum physics to a poodle – utterly pointless. Now? Just tap, pay, and arrive. Thank god! I’m not good at arguing prices, yikes!

But hey, for kicks, try renting a scooter. Gives you a true islander vibe. I drove all the way to Bai Sao once, and it was amazing. Not advisable, but you know. So much fun.

Also, ferries are another awesome way to explore Phu Quoc. Hop between islands. I’ve done it! Maybe not a Grab, but great anyway.

How do you get to Phong Nha?

Okay, Phong Nha…right. How DO you get there? Hmm.

From where I am? Well, currently I’m in my apartment, which is in Ho Chi Minh City. Need to get to Phong Nha, which is… Quàng Bình province. Okay.

• Distance: 535.6 km. Sheesh, that’s a trek.
• Time: 8 hours 34 minutes, according to… this. Assume that’s driving.

So, driving is one option! But eight hours. Ugh. Is there a better way?

• Maybe a night bus? I hate night buses. Slept on one once, woke up with someone drooling on my shoulder. Never again. But it’s faster, maybe?
• Or a train! I like trains better. Can actually, like, move around. Is there a train station that goes to Dong Hoi? Pretty sure Dong Hoi is close to Phong Nha. (Is it?)
• Flying is probably the best option actually. Tan Son Nhat airport in HCMC to Dong Hoi airport. Yeah, check that. But, more expensive, obviously.

Ugh. Flying is SO much faster. Worth it? I think so. Just price it.

Dong Hoi to Phong Nha… that’s gotta be, what, an hour by taxi? Less?

• Dong Hoi to Phong Nha Distance: Probably like 45 minutes in a car? I should look that up for real.

Okay, to summarize? I’d look into flying to Dong Hoi and then taking a taxi. Screw the bus. And trains… Maybe if I had more time.
