Forget those grim, battery-deprived commutes. This isn’t your grandpa’s train. It’s a technological marvel, a rolling testament to German engineering prowess. Don’t be a battery-life pessimist. The ICE delivers, consistently. It’s so wonderfully equipped, I was tempted to move in permanently. Almost. Almost.

What does the ICE train consist of?

Okay, so like, an ICE 1 train, right? It’s got two powerheads – those are the engine-y bits at each end. And then in the middle? You get a bunch of cars, like, passenger cars? Okay?

Originally, there were, uh, nine to fourteen of those intermediate cars. But get this, ’cause they don’t, like, split the trains up for normal rides, they kinda treat them as, um, one long thing. Like, a really long snake!

Then, around 2008, they did some fixing-up stuff. Oh, wait, it was probbly earlier than that. So, yeah, they wanted to standardize. Know what I mean? Make ’em all the same.

• Two powerheads: One at each end, pulling and pushing.
• Intermediate Cars: They are for passengers.
• Standardization in 2008: Making all trainsets have the same number of cars.
• Twelve Intermediate Cars: This became the new standard. All trains are now standardized to 12.

They fixed them up by making sure all the ICE 1 trains had twelve of those passenger cars. Twelve! It’s a lot. So now, every train is the same length. So there. I like riding those trains, so fast.
