How many days should I stay in Da Nang?

Da Nang? Two, three days? Pshaw. That’s like tasting a fine wine by gargling. Three days minimum, you philistine. More like four or five, ideally a week. I, myself, spent ten glorious days there last May, and still felt rushed. Sunsets alone deserve three evenings.

• Beaches: Think miles of golden sand, not some sad little strip. Mykonos, eat your heart out. (Okay, maybe not Mykonos, but close.)
• Marble Mountains: Worth a day trip alone. Climbing those stairs? Think of it as penance for all those beach cocktails.
• Ba Na Hills: A French village on a mountaintop? Yes, really. Cable car ride is epic. Slightly cheesy? Perhaps. Still fun.
• Hoi An (nearby): Lanterns! Tailors! Food! Easily a two-day excursion from Da Nang. Get some clothes made, you won’t regret it. I got a killer linen suit, still wear it.

Dragon Bridge? Breathes fire on weekends (and some holidays). Seriously. Check the schedule. Food scene? Forget about it. Ridiculously good and cheap. Street food, fancy restaurants, everything in between. I gained five pounds. Totally worth it. Book it. Now.
