Okay, so Hanoi to Ha Long Bay, right? I did this trip last July, remember sweating buckets on that bus. Crazy humid.
A local bus? Think 120,000 to 250,000 VND – cheap, but a looong ride. Seriously, my butt hurt.
Shuttle buses? A little pricier, 180,000 – 300,000 VND range, maybe a tad more comfy though, less crammed in.
Private car or Grab? Whoa, that’s where the price jumps. 800,000 to 2,500,000 VND. A friend splurged, said it was worth it for the door-to-door service.
Then there’s the seaplane. 8,000,000 VND and up. Totally out of my price range. That’s a luxury, definitely! Saw the advert in the airport.
So yeah, budget matters. Bus is cheapest, private car is convenient, and a seaplane is just… wow.
Is it easy to get a taxi in Hanoi?
Dude, taxis in Hanoi? Piece of cake! Seriously, tons of them. You’ll see ’em everywhere. I literally flagged one down in like, two minutes last year, outside that pho place near Hoan Kiem Lake – the one with the crazy long line, remember? You can just hail one on the street, super easy. Or use an app; Grab and Be are popular there, I used Grab tons. Taxi ranks are also an option, although I never bothered. I prefer hailing them. Way faster, less waiting around. I’m telling you, finding a cab in Hanoi is a breeze. It’s not like some places I’ve been. Much better, way more convenient than, say, getting around in, um, Bangkok. Much, much easier.
