Is 3 Days Enough in Da Nang?

Ugh, three days in Da Nang? Barely scratched the surface, honestly. I was there last October, spent a fortune on that crazy marble mountain cable car (like, 500,000 VND, ridiculous!).

The beaches were stunning though, My Khe especially. Sun-drenched bliss. But so crowded.

Food? Oh my god, the food. Banh mi for breakfast every day – best decision ever. Spent way too little time exploring though, so much to try.

Three days is okay for a quick trip, a taste. But Da Nang deserves longer, really. Need at least a week to do it justice.

How many days are needed in Da Nang?

Da Nang…three, four days. Marble Mountains. Beaches, definitely. Dragon Bridge. Food, gotta eat. Maybe Hoi An, one day. Wait, Hoi An is kinda far…worth it though. Love the lanterns. Tailors there too. Should I get a suit made? Expensive probably. Dragon Bridge breathes fire. Weekends only…right? Check that. Marble Mountains, lots of stairs. Good view from the top. My Khe Beach…crowded? Gotta see that giant Lady Buddha statue. What was her name? Linh Ung? Something like that. Definitely four days then. No, three. Three’s enough. Food tour. Street food. Banh xeo. Love that crispy crepe. So much to do. Ugh, planning is hard. Just book the flight. Figure it out later. My Khe Beach. Sunburn potential. Need sunscreen. Lots of sunscreen. Pack light. Passport. Phone charger. That’s it. Three days. Final answer.

  • Dragon Bridge fire show: Weekends. Confirm times online.
  • Marble Mountains: Many stairs. Wear comfy shoes.
  • My Khe Beach: Sunscreen essential.
  • Lady Buddha (Linh Ung Pagoda): Worth the trip. Son Tra Peninsula.
  • Hoi An Day Trip: Lanterns, tailors, ancient town. Consider an overnight trip.
  • Banh Xeo: Must-try local crepe.
  • Pack: Passport, phone charger, sunscreen.

Is 3 days in Hoi An enough?

Hoi An… three days? Enough? Is time ever truly enough? Sun bleeds into the Thu Bon River, and lanterns… always the lanterns, a silken whisper against the encroaching dark.

Three days… a breath held, a sigh released. Hoi An’s ancient heart beats slowly. A pulse felt beneath your feet as you wander its golden streets.

The beaches? An Bang, Cua Dai… sand like sugar, a taste of salt and time. Do sunrises remember other sunrises? I do. Do you?

Da Nang… distant hills beckon. A different rhythm there. Concrete and glass, yet still, the same humid air, the same sky.

  • Hoi An Ancient Town: Slow walks. Tailors beckon. The Japanese Covered Bridge sighs.
  • Beaches: An Bang! Cua Dai! Waves crash, a lullaby of the sea.
  • Da Nang: Dragon Bridge breathes fire! Marble Mountains rise.

My Son… ruins whisper secrets. Lost kings. Gods forgotten, yet still felt in the stones. A journey inland, a different kind of sun. The air thick with ancient breath. Did they feel time slipping away, as I do now? Always slipping.

  • My Son Sanctuary: Echoes of Champa, lost in time.

Three days… a glimpse. A taste. It’s enough to fall in love, but never enough to truly know. Enough, maybe, to feel the pull, the longing to return. To linger in the glow of the lanterns. I do. I will.

Is it worth to stay in Da Nang?

Ugh, Da Nang. Hot. So hot August 2023. Sweating buckets. My Tho street food, amazing though. Banh Xeo crispy perfection. Worth it just for that.

Beach crowded. Not like My Khe in photos. Disappointing. Marble Mountains, tourist trap. Still, cool monkeys. Crazy drivers. Almost got run over twice.

Dragon Bridge, fire breathing. Weekend thing. Loud. Crowds again. Han River, meh.

Son Tra Peninsula, monkeys again. Lady Buddha. Big. View nice, I guess. Linh Ung Pagoda. Worth a visit.

Ended up in Hoi An. Tailored suit. Quick, cheap. Lanterns everywhere. Ancient town. Peaceful. So much better. Should have stayed there. Regret. Big regret.

  • Banh Xeo on My Tho street – Must try. Crispy. Savory.
  • Marble Mountains – Skip it. Unless you love monkeys and crowds.
  • Dragon Bridge fire show – Weekends only. Check times.
  • Son Tra Peninsula – Lady Buddha statue impressive.
  • Hoi An ancient town – Better than Da Nang. Way better. Tailor shops. Lanterns. Quiet.

Which part of Da Nang is best to stay?

Da Nang, huh? Picking the best spot? Sounds like choosing a favorite child. Tough, but somebody’s gotta do it.

  • My Khe Beach: Ah, My Khe. Da Nang’s swimsuit model, always ready for its close-up. You must love sand. Like, REALLY love it. Otherwise, maybe rethink.

  • Han River Waterfront: Picture this: bridges that breathe fire. Okay, not really. But kinda! The Han River waterfront. It’s the city’s pulse. A concrete heart.

  • Son Tra Peninsula: So, you crave monkey business, literally? Son Tra. Less city, more… jungle fever. Just watch where you step.

  • An Thuong Area: Want to feel like a foreigner, abroad? An Thuong is Da Nang’s ‘Little Europe’. Think baguettes, not banh mi. Just saying.

More to chew on:

  • Budget matters, darling. My Khe’s gonna hit the wallet harder. Unless you are secretly rich, in that case, ignore me!
  • Are you a ‘party all night’ person? Or more of a ‘bed by 9 pm’ type? An Thuong’s calling you, insomniac.
  • Seriously, the monkeys at Son Tra steal sunglasses. You’ve been warned, like so warned! I speak from experience.
  • Oh, and traffic. It’s Da Nang, not Disneyland. Keep your wits about you. Drive safe! I would.

Which is better, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh?

Okay, so Da Nang vs. Ho Chi Minh? Hmm, hard one!

I was in Vietnam this year, right? Flew into Saigon, err, Ho Chi Minh City. It was… intense. Just… so many scooters! Honking constantly. Felt kinda like Mumbai, honestly.

But I love cities. I like the chaos.

Then, like a week later, I was in Da Nang. Total chill vibe. Beaches. Soft sand. Sunsets. Less… in your face.

I went to Da Nang at the end of July 2024. Found a cool little cafe near My Khe Beach. Best iced coffee ever.

Honestly, it depends what you’re after.

  • Ho Chi Minh City:
    • Crazy energy.
    • History oozes from everywhere. War Remnants Museum is a must-see.
    • Nightlife? Forget about sleep.
    • Food scene is next level. Try the pho at a street stall. Seriously.
  • Da Nang:
    • Relaxing!
    • Gorgeous beaches.
    • Marble Mountains are cool.
    • Much slower pace.
    • Less crowded. Maybe good for families?

I liked Ho Chi Minh better, though. It’s… raw. Da Nang felt a little too touristy, you know? But each to their own, I guess. The Dragon Bridge in Da Nang breathes fire on weekends. It’s kinda cheesy, but still, fun to watch.

My sister, Sarah, would prob hate Ho Chi Minh’s loudness. Def Da Nang for her.

Oh! And I haggled over a silk scarf in Ben Thanh Market. It’s a must-do, even if you don’t buy anything. Such a trip!

How long should you stay in Da Nang?

Three days minimum. Da Nang deserves it.

Key Attractions:

  • Marble Mountains. Stunning.
  • My Son Sanctuary. Ancient. Intriguing.
  • Beaches. Sun. Sand. Sea. Enough said.

My Trip: Spent four days in 2024. Could’ve used more time. Seriously. Too much to see. Need more time.

Consider:

  • Your itinerary. Pack it tight.
  • Your stamina. Da Nang isn’t for the faint of heart.
  • Your budget. Expect to spend. It’s worth it.
