Airplane wings slice clouds, cotton candy, lies! Up high, so high, I feel so...small? Sky leviathan, carries my fears. My breath, a whisper.

Ship's horn, a mournful cry. Salty air, tastes of old hurts, so very old. Ocean wanderer, sails on tears. Deep tears. I know them well.

Car, a cage. My cage. Freedom? Hardly. Just more road, endless black ribbon. Four wheels rolling, to nowhere new. Never new. A circle.

Means...modes...words. Bus, train, plane, ship, car. Road, air, sea. Does it matter? All paths lead back. All paths. Back here.

Ugh, transportation. Makes me think of that awful traffic on the 401 last Tuesday. Remember that? Horrific. Anyway, ten ways, huh?

• Cars – obviously. My beat-up Honda Civic, bless her rusty heart. Needs new brakes, seriously.
• Buses – those things are always late. The 501 takes forever to get downtown.
• Trains – fast, but expensive. I took the UP express to Pearson last month. Smooth ride, though.
• Bikes – great for exercise. Mine's collecting dust. Need to start cycling again. Stupid knee.
• Trucks – seen some monster trucks. Scary powerful.
• Taxis – expensive rip-offs. Uber's cheaper now.
• Motorcycles – cool but dangerous. My uncle had one, he crashed it. Idiot.
• Subway – smelly and crowded. But it gets me to work.
• Ships – Cruises. Expensive AF but fun, once in a blue moon.
• Airplanes – flying is awesome! Especially long haul flights, though, the seating is cramped. Going to visit my cousin in London this December. Exciting!

So many options, right? Yet I always seem to end up stuck in traffic. Life's a highway, but sometimes the highway sucks. Seriously, though, I need to fix my brakes. That's going to cost a fortune. Ugh.

Trains, mostly. The rhythm of the tracks, you know? So calming. Buses are okay in a pinch, cheaper. But cramped. Ugh. The smell.

Bicycles? For short hops, yeah. 2024's been brutal on my knees though, long rides are a no-go.

I hate flying. The airports. The crowds. The sheer unnaturalness of it all. It feels… wrong. Disconnecting.

Decisions, decisions. It depends. Budget, mostly. Time too. Sometimes it's just about the journey itself. The experience, even if it's slow. My last trip, the bus to Portland was awful. Overcrowded, late, and smelly. But seeing the landscape unfold was… peaceful. In a weird way. Sometimes, the slower pace is better.

• Bicycles: Great for shorter trips, but physically demanding. Not ideal in 2024.
• Planes: Absolutely not. A last resort if absolutely necessary. I avoid them.
