Short & Sweet: Vinasun (traditional with an app) & Grab (ride-sharing king). Watch out for Hanoi taxi scams.

I remember being in Hanoi, like, October 2022. This one taxi driver, near Hoan Kiem Lake… insisted the meter was “broken.” Cost me, I kid you not, like 300,000 VND for a ride that should’ve been maybe 80,000 VND. Never again!

Grab is honestly your best bet usually. It’s what most people use.

Seriously, download Grab! I found it way easier, especially when I was trying to navigate the chaos of Saigon’s traffic. Plus, you see the price upfront, so no surprises.

Now, Vinasun is a classic, right? It’s the taxi company everyone knows. Their app is okay, I guess. But Grab just wins, especially if you don’t speak much Vietnamese.

Honestly, there’s probably other apps, but Grab just dominated the scene when I visited Danang back in January 2023. It’s everywhere. Super convenient.
