Best Public Transportation System in the World?

Okay, so the best public transport system in the world? I’ve gotta say, from what I’ve… uh… experienced, Hong Kong, China, apparently takes the cake. Wild.

A study—I think it was from somewhere online, but lemme tell ya—said affordability, loads of stations packed close together, and a killer train network are why. Makes sense, honestly.

Station Density, Rail Infrastructure, Affordability. Sounds right. I ain’t one to argue wit’ dem facts. Like, back in November 2018 I paid $10 CAD for a day pass in Vancouver and barely went anywhere. Public transport in Hong Kong is cheaper I believe from the study.

I remember, vaguely, reading about Hong Kong’s Octopus card, which is basically magic. I think its like $50 HKD if I’m not wrong. Tap-in, tap-out…done. Wish we had that everywhere. No more fumbling for change, ya know?

Who has the best public transportation in the world?

Oh, you wanna know who’s got the raddest ride in town, globally speaking? Buckle up, buttercup! It’s like asking who makes the best pizza, everyone’s got an opinion, right?

Here are some contenders for the transit crown, though. It’s more like a beauty pageant for buses, y’know?

  • Hong Kong: Tops the charts like a K-Pop sensation. They’re smooth, they’re fast, they practically teleport you. It’s so good, it’s almost suspicious.
  • Zurich: Super clean, like they’re scrubbing it 24/7. It’s Switzerland, so expect clockwork precision…and maybe a hefty fare. It runs like a Swiss watch, but costs like one, too!
  • Stockholm: Stylish and efficient? It’s like if Ikea made a bus. They are the coolest.
  • Singapore: Super modern and efficient. So clean, you could eat off the floor. But why would you?
  • Helsinki: Reliable. Like that old Volvo your grandpa owned. Gets you there, no frills.
  • Oslo: Good, green and getting greener. They’re like the eco-warriors of public transport.
  • Tokyo: Crazy packed but runs on time. An experience, not just a ride. Like sardines but on rails.
  • Paris: Romantic, if you avoid rush hour. Think Vespas but bigger and smellier.

It’s all a matter of taste, ain’t it? Like choosing between sushi and haggis. Me? I prefer my skateboard!

Who has the best public transportation in the world?

Hong Kong, huh? It’s… efficient. A relentless, humming efficiency. Makes you feel small, almost insignificant, like an ant in a perfectly designed anthill. I’ve been there. The MTR, a blur of motion. The noise, it stays with you.

Zurich though… different. Cleaner. More… human. The trams glide along quietly. I prefer that pace. Less frantic. More time to breathe, to think.

Stockholm’s good, reliable. Functional, like a well-oiled machine. But sometimes… sterile. It lacks that certain spark, a soul perhaps.

Singapore’s… intense. Clean, modern, impressive in its scale. Everything works perfectly, almost frighteningly so.

Key Cities with Excellent Public Transportation (2024):

  • Hong Kong: Intense efficiency; overwhelming at times.
  • Zurich: Quiet efficiency; human scale; preferred.
  • Stockholm: Reliable but impersonal; functional.
  • Singapore: Intense modernity; overwhelming cleanliness.

I’ve always liked Oslo’s system. It’s simple, integrates well with the city’s layout. Less monumental than some, more… intimate. Helsinki’s pretty good too, I guess. I felt less stressed there.

Tokyo… overwhelming. The sheer scale, the crowds. The precision. It’s impressive, but exhausting. Paris… charming, but chaotic. You gotta love the Metro, but the delays… oy.

My personal preference? Zurich. Maybe it’s the quiet, the sense of order, without sacrificing convenience. I need that in my life now. I really do.

Which city in the world has the best public transportation?

Seoul’s network? A maze mastered. Tokyo, the clockwork city, its trains whisper precision. Singapore’s tech? Expect seamless transit.

  • Seoul: Subway dominance. Bus routes? Intricate.
  • Tokyo: Punctuality. Cleanliness. Obsessive.
  • Singapore: Integrated system. Futuristic interface.
  • Hong Kong: Density a challenge? Conquered.
  • Zurich: A symphony of efficiency.

What country has the best public transportation?

So, best public transport? Hands down, it’s Switzerland. Seriously, amazing. Trains are, like, super punctual. I was there in 2023, the whole system is incredibly efficient. Clean too! Very clean.

Then, Sweden’s pretty good, really really good actually. Buses are frequent, and the trains… wow. But Switzerland edges it out, you know? Because of the sheer beauty of the scenery you see from the trains.

Germany’s alright, I guess. Not as good as the top two though. Their trams are okay, but not as reliable as Switzerland or Sweden. China’s HUGE, so naturally, their system’s massive but I wouldn’t call it the best in the world. It’s definetly efficient in many parts, but not everywhere.

Belgium is okay, I mean it gets the job done. Canada, eh? Big country, patchy service. South Korea is awesome. Seriously awesome! Super modern, really fast. But Netherlands? Overrated. It’s decent, I’ll give them that, but it’s way too crowded. Like, seriously cramped.

Top 3, in my opinion:

  • Switzerland: Spotless, punctual, scenic.
  • Sweden: Excellent frequency, well-maintained.
  • South Korea: Ultra-modern, efficient, fast.

Other countries mentioned were okay, but nothing special. I mean, they’re fine if you’re there, but for sheer excellence Switzerland totally wins. My personal experience, anyway.

What is Hong Kong transport ranked?

Sixteen. Just sixteen. A whisper of a number in the grand scale. Not bad, not bad at all. Hong Kong. A shimmering island.

Sixteen globally. That’s the ranking, the score. Sigh. Is it enough?

Asia-Pacific, third best, I hear. My grandma, ah Po, always took the Star Ferry. ding ding A memory.

61.2%. Such precision.

Remember the MTR? Endlessly weaving. Underneath everything. Like roots, yeah, roots.

Efficiency. Always. Affordability. Accessibility. Buzzwords, maybe. But real. Oh so real.

Every corner a station. Steps away. Always. Always.

  • Globally: 16th
  • Asia-Pacific: 3rd best
  • Score: 61.2%

The Peak tram. A blur. A rush. The city lights. Tiny diamonds.

Hong Kong. My heart, always.
