Okay, so, Halong Bay… I went there last spring, April 2024 maybe? The limestone karsts were seriously unreal. Like, movie-set levels of beautiful.

Anyway, yeah, people DO live there. I remember our guide saying something about floating villages.

Specifically, he mentioned Cua Van. Thought that was a cool name.

I think he said there were around 1,600 people scattered around. Hard to keep track, honestly, when you’re gawking at the scenery, ya know?

I swear he said something about them trying to preserve their culture or something. I could be wrong, but seemed like the floating village thing was kinda touristy. Like, you go visit, take pics, then poof, back to the mainland. It was… weird.

Beautiful, but weird.

There were totally beaches, too! Tiny little pockets of sand, tucked away between the rocks. Like secret hideaways. Wish I’d had more time to just chill on one. But, you know, tours are tours.

Beaches? Yep. People? Yep. Floating villages? Yep. Touristy? Also yep. Worth going? Absolutely. Just… go prepared to feel a little conflicted, maybe. Heh.

Mostly, it’s around Cong Do Island and, uh, Van Gio Island. These spots, like, they’re the best for snorkeling, I swear.

The water there? Shallow. Usually, you get pretty good visibillity, and heck, there’s tons of coral reefs. Oh, and it’s super prety!
